Colorado's Proposition HH Ballot Measure

The weather might be cooling off in Colorado, but property value assessments are still a hot topic after updated assessments - and the subsequent tax implications - shocked homeowners.  Proposition HH was billed by Democrats as an attempt to address this, but are Colorado voters buying it?

Not so much, according to our most recent survey of 600 voters throughout the state.  A bare majority (51 percent) of voters said they would vote “yes” on Proposition HH, which is twice as many as say they would vote “no.” But the main challenge for advocates of the measure is the 23% of likely voters who are holding back and still undecided.  Support for the proposal is strikingly like most tax increase proposals and comes from younger voters, Democrats, and voters of color.  The biggest challenge? Support among unaffiliated voters, who swing most statewide elections, is just under the critical 50% threshold. HH will need to heat up quickly with this pivotal group of voters in order to succeed.
